Nonprofit Web Design & Digital Marketing Case Study: Step Up

Fall 2020 – Spring 2022

What was the Step Up nonprofit website redesign project?

The Step Up nonprofit website redesign project involved transforming a difficult-to-navigate site with poor structure into an integrated digital infrastructure that better represented the brand, supported rapid expansion, and improved national awareness and donorship through collaboration with their SEM team and Google Ad Grant optimization. Step Up is a nonprofit organization that provides permanent housing services to individuals experiencing chronic homelessness and serious mental health conditions, with locations throughout California, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. They also offer rehabilitation, education, training, and mental health services. The client initially faced challenges with their website's navigation, structure, and lack of a good landing page for Google Ads traffic. Our redesign process began with understanding their history, current operations, and future expansion plans. We then established standardized processes and templates to support their anticipated growth and better communicate their mission. We also implemented their new branding (colors and icons). By collaborating with their Search Engine Marketing (SEM) team, we ensured effective use of their Google Ad Grant to increase national awareness, visibility, and donorship.
