County of Maui Volunteer Center

Spring 2013 – Summer 2019, Summer 2020 – Summer 2021

Project

The County of Maui Volunteer Center provides resources, education, and opportunities for volunteers and volunteer leaders in Maui. We provided marketing support for the Volunteer Center starting in 2013. This has included a custom website design, social media management, blogging, graphic design projects, and email newsletter design and support.

Throughout all these projects we emphasized cohesive branding and a simple and intuitive user experience for their volunteers and volunteer leaders.

The Story

What we love about working with The County of Maui Volunteer Center is its mission to lead, connect and mobilize volunteers on Maui. By supporting the County of Maui Volunteer Center, we can have a ripple effect on the community. And with a strong understanding of the organization’s mission, we’re able to take ideas and run with them without much background or detail.

HandsOn Maui is the County of Maui’s Volunteer Center — it connects nonprofits on Maui and mobilizes volunteers. As far as coordinating all of it, Wendy Stebbins is “it.” She runs the show — from hosting Volunteer Leadership Conferences to helping individuals find volunteer opportunities. That’s why, in our six-year relationship with HandsOn Maui, we’ve continually adapted the website to function as an invaluable tool for the center.

What Technology Aloha does for the Volunteer Center has led to a very close partnership, and for good reason. Our collaborative relationship with the Volunteer Center includes maintaining their website, social media channels, newsletters, and nearly all promotional and marketing materials.

We began by designing the Hawaii Volunteer Leaders Conference site in 2013. That led to re-designing the HandsOn Maui website in 2013, then handling all the social media channels for the organization, and blogging for the site as well. We consistently promote their regular training events for volunteer leaders, and create a volunteer newsletter each month called the Volunteer Hotsheet. The data we provide in our analyses help Wendy receive grant funding for the Volunteer Center, which is essential to keep the organization running.

Jillyn is a joy to work with and is very patient. The hands on training was very important to the future success of our new WordPress site. Jillyn has the ability to make a complicated process simple.
