Facebook tagging is a fast and easy process that allows a user or business to attach their name to a photo. Doing so not only allows you to save an image, but it also helps you share it with your friends and followers.
How to Tag a Facebook Image as a User
If you want to tag yourself as a personal user on a Facebook image, you have the option of tagging yourself and most of your Facebook friends. You may also tag any Business Page, whether you follow them or not.
Step 1. Navigate to the Facebook post that contains the image.
Step 2. If you manage a Facebook Page, check your personal icon to make sure it is your personal Facebook profile.
Step 3. Open the image by clicking on it, then select “Tag Image.”
Step 4. Click anywhere on the photo (such as your face in a group image, for example), and select your name from the drop-down menu. Your name will appear both on the image, and in the post description.
Step 5. Click “Done Tagging” to save.
How to Tag a Facebook Image as a Business Page
Business Pages can tag themselves in a Facebook image in a similar way that users can, with a few more restrictions. A Facebook Page, for example, can tag other business pages, but not personal users (except for the Business Page admin’s own circle of friends).
Step 1. Navigate to the Facebook post that contains the image.
Step 2. Check for your user icon to make you are acting as your Business Page. If you are not, click the drop-down arrow on the bottom right of the post and select the Page you wish to tag.
Step 3. Open the image by clicking on it, then select “Tag Image.”
Step 4. Click anywhere on the photo and select your business Page from the drop-down menu. Your page name will appear both on the image and in the post description.
Step 5. Click “Done Tagging” to save.

Rules to Remember
When tagging on Facebook, these are some rules and limitations to keep in mind:
- Anyone can tag a business Page, but tagging a person is generally limited to only some of your friends and Page fans (depending on their privacy settings).
- Pages can, however, tag users when replying to a comment made by them.
- You can tag up to 50 people or Pages within one photo.
- You can change your privacy settings to allow or disallow any tagged photos of you from appearing in your timeline.
- Facebook will automatically toggle any photos tagged with a user name in his or her profile but does not do this for Business Pages.
