Building blocks of a good marketing strategy

Who Is Your Target Market?

Decide who your company is targeting. These are people who would be the most interested in buying your product or service. Learn as much as you can about your target market. This will make it easier for you to create an effective marketing campaign that reaches out to them.

Some factors that make up a target market are:

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Education level
  • Interests
  • Location

You can decide who your target market is by looking at past customers. Look at who follows you on social platforms, who purchases from your competitors, and more.

Conduct Market Research

A good question to ask yourself is “what do customers want?”. When you’ve found your target market, you need to market your product in a way that customers will want it. You will answer that question by conducting market research. You can divide the marketing research into three steps.

Step One

The first step is brainstorming. In this step, you should think of all the possibilities for your product. You should not be using any data or customer feedback yet.

Step Two

The second step is data collection. This is when you find data that will be helpful in the next steps. These steps are what your competitors are doing. They can also be what customers want to see in your marketing campaigns.

Step Three

The third and final step of this process is to analyze the results of the research. You will then create a marketing strategy based on this analysis. This will help you to properly communicate with your audience and meet their needs.

The Marketing Mix

The marketing mix is matching the right product with the right person at the right place and time. Think of it as a set of statements that combine four Ps. (Product, Price, Place [distribution], Promotion.) These combine to provide consumers with a sense of value for their money. They also create demand for a product or service that generates profit.

Answering the four P’s is how you will decide on what channels to use in your marketing strategy. It will also show if you need to make any adjustments to
your marketing strategy so far.

Decide Your Budget

Marketing budgets come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The allocations for your marketing budget should depend on the size of your business. It also depends on the amount of time you’re willing to spend on marketing, and how much money you would like to spend.

It’s vital that you know what each part of your marketing strategy is before deciding on a budget. If you don’t know, it will be difficult to know if the budget is appropriate for your needs. Once you have a detailed budget, you’re ready to put your marketing strategy to the test!
