Content marketing is the best way to build a solid foundation of followers online. Creating valuable content is the way to new customers’ hearts and fingertips. Producing great content can seem overwhelming at first. Writing, editing, and creating content isn’t easy and takes time. However, there are some simple ideas that are often forgotten. Keep reading for obvious content marketing strategies that businesses overlook.

6 Obvious Content Marketing Strategies That Businesses Overlook

1. Follow trends for your area

The best topics are the ones that are already popular. You don’t have to spend a ton of time brainstorming or guessing at what people want to know. Use Google Trends to track popular search items and use them for inspiration.

2. Use FAQs

Chances are you already have a FAQ page on your website. Create a content marketing campaign of going into detail on each of those questions. Write articles, create infographics and make videos to elaborate on each question.

3. Do customer interviews and case studies

Have a satisfied customer? Ask them for an interview about their success with your product. Be sure to focus on their side of the story (don’t make it all about the product) and get a video if possible.

4. Always, always, always make it shareable

Creating content that isn’t shareable via social media is like washing your car but not putting gas in it. Sure, it looks great in your driveway, but no one else will see it. If it’s difficult or impossible to share easily, your followers won’t share with their friends.

5. Share all of your content

Don’t create a great blog post and stop there. Be sure to share all of your content on social media platforms. It’s best to share a link to your content in different ways, depending on the platform. For example, a blog about pool cleaning tips: Share an Instagram post with a picture of before and after pool cleaning. The same blog needs a Facebook post with a customer story about getting their pool cleaned. Create interesting posts on social media that lead back to your core content.

6. Change up your content type

Content is not just words. Keep your content marketing interesting by planning a regular rotation of types of media. Here are some other great ways to share meaningful content:

  • Infographics
  • Case Studies
  • eBooks
  • White Papers
  • Checklists
  • Interviews with customers or industry leaders
  • Social Media
  • Memes
